Strengthening The European Battery Market

We have achieved another important milestone in the strategic development of our battery materials business unit. The contracts for the production of LFP cathode material for automotive applications have been signed – a significant step towards further integration into the European battery value chain.

Production of LFP Cathode Material in Weimar
The planned volumes will be gradually increased until our Weimar site reaches full production capacity. Following a successful qualification stage, significant production volumes are expected from the second half of 2026 onwards.

Additional contracts and expansion of production capacity
In addition, IBU-tec has signed further contracts for battery materials with an annual volume in the mid to high double-digit million range. As part of a joint development agreement, we are working with our partner to develop a European industrial manufacturing process for LFP-cathode material.

New production plant in Bitterfeld
To implement this project, we plan to build an additional production plant at our Bitterfeld site, which will increase our capacity for battery materials approximately quintuple. Production is scheduled to start in 2028 at the latest. Our partner has secured the entire production volume of this new facility for at least ten years. Financing for the capacity expansion has already been secured.
